ASH Drywall Supports Ukrainian Action

Posted by ASH Drywall

ASH Drywall have donated a minivan to Ukrainian Action, a UK charity run by over 40 volunteers dedicated to supporting the survival and recovery of Ukraine. They have sent a total of 66 humanitarian aid convoys from the UK to Ukraine including 334 vehicles delivered by a team of more than 350 volunteer drivers.

Ukrainian Action regularly send convoys of donated vehicles filled with humanitarian and medical supplies to the country, to support local reconstruction and healthcare projects.

The minivan donated by ASH Drywall joined Convoy 66 making it’s way from Devon to Poland for handover and then onwards to the east of Ukraine to provide supplies to civilians who have been displaced by the war. The following update video was sent by Jeff Hartman who founded Ukranian Action and our minivan can be seen in the background.

Ukrainian Action says:

“Big thanks to our supporters in the UK for helping to bring aid to victims of war. Slava Ukraini! Together we will win!”

A Thrilling Team Away Day at TeamSport E-Karting

ASH Carting 2024 v1

ASH Drywall recently held a fantastic annual team awayday on Friday, 18 October 2024 at TeamSport E-Karting in Crawley. The event was a welcome opportunity for the ASH Drywall team to bond, have fun, and let off some steam outside of work.

The ‘ASH Drywallers’ were split into two racing groups and the competition was fierce from start to finish. Racing on the 750M multi-level circuit complete with pitlane, breath-taking straights and challenging tight bends, the adrenaline was pumping as the very rapid electric powered karts zoomed around the track.

Hurtling around in full racing mode indoors at up to 40mph was a great way to celebrate the team's achievements!

Here are the podium finishers for each group:

Group 1:

  • First Place: Mike Jones
  • Second Place: Damien Gregory
  • Third Place: John Abnett

Group 2:

  • First Place: James Symmons
  • Second Place: Leanne Guy
  • Third Place: Paul Sumpter

ASH Carting 2024 v2

ASH Carting 2024 v3

We are pleased to report our man brought home the WIN!

Sean Ash after his big win

As one spectator commented:

"A fierce fight where Sean handed a game opponent two standing eight counts to win on a unanimous decision. Well done Mr Ash, you deserve it."

Violent footage may or may not follow...

Sean's justgiving page remains in place if you want to congratulate him with a donation.

It’s fight night tomorrow

Posted by ASH Drywall

Tomorrow night, Saturday 27 April 2024, Sean Ash steps into the ring for his first ever bout.

He's making this extraordinary effort in memory of Terry Smith, one of ASH Drywall's long-time operatives, who sadly took his own life in 2023. Although we’ll never know what Terry was going through, his struggle did prompt us to spread the word about the important work of the Lighthouse Club, who are 100% dedicated to the emotional, physical and financial wellbeing of UK construction workers and their families.

As so much of the UK’s construction workforce is ultimately “self-employed”, many won’t have access to employer schemes, and the Lighthouse Club play an important role trying to plug this gap.

Sean is taking part in this Ultra White Collar Boxing event in memory of Terry, and to raise money for the Lighthouse Club at Horntye Park Sports Complex, Hastings and if you want to join Sean as a last minute sponsor or even come along to see the fight live then there's still time:

Sponsor Sean Ash Boxing with UWCBAs many of you will already be aware, Terry Smith, one of our long-time operatives, sadly took his own life earlier this year. Although we’ll never know the exact reasons why, Terry’s struggle did prompt us to spread the word about the important work of the Lighthouse Club, who are 100% dedicated to the emotional, physical and financial wellbeing of UK construction workers and their families.

As so much of the UK’s construction workforce is ultimately “self-employed”, many won’t have access to employer schemes, and the Lighthouse Club play an important role trying to plug this gap.

It’s with that in mind that I’ve signed-up to take part in an Ultra White Collar Boxing event, in memory of Terry, and to raise money for the Lighthouse Club. I was incredibly impressed by the efforts of ASH Drywall team members James Kay and Connor Steele who went into the ring for charity in November 2023, so have big gloves to fill!

The event doesn’t take place until 27 April 2024 at Horntye Park Sports Complex, Hastings, but please save the date for now. I’ll send round info on how to get tickets etc soon but, in the meantime, if anyone wants to sponsor me please go to the following webpage:

Thanks all
